Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Grace clerked for The Honorable James R. Cavanaugh of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County and has been in private practice since August of 1974. He has extensive defense litigation experience in both the state and federal courts and concentrates his practice in the areas of general civil defense (including general liability, automobile/motor vehicle and premises liability); products liability; construction litigation; employment litigation; school district and municipal liability defense; and environmental and mass toxic torts litigation. He has served as coordinating regional, state and local counsel in a variety of complex broad-based defense and corporate litigation matters.

Tom holds memberships with the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations as well as memberships in the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel, Pennsylvania Defense Institute, American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the Defense Research and Trial Lawyers Associates (DRI). Since 1983, he has been actively involved in the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), and has chaired a number of substantive and special committees and task forces and has served on the Association’s Board of Directors; in addition, by special appointment, he served for 10 years as the IADC’s delegate to the American Civil Trial Bar Roundtable. He is a past President of the ABOTA Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter and currently sits on the ABOTA National Board of Directors. He served as co-chair at both 2005 and 2007 ABOTA National 7th Amendment Jury Summits held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tom has also served as a federal mediator and as both a Settlement Master and a Pro Tem Judge in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas. Tom has been named a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” every year since 2006.

An avid sports fan, Tom actively participates in basketball, skiing and golf. He also enjoys reading, movies and exploring the varied cultural and culinary attractions in the Southeastern Pennsylvania/Southern New Jersey areas.
